Pam is a nationally certified counselor and has 16 years of clinical experience working with individuals, couples, families and groups. She approaches healing and recovery from a holistic perspective. Her specialties include trauma and addictions and she believes participation in 12-step programs compliments individual and group therapies.
After graduating from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 1999 with a Master of Arts in Psychology –Addiction Counseling, Pam provided therapy to clients in a community mental health agency for 8 years followed by 8 years in a private practice setting.
In her holistic approach to healing emotional pain from traumas and loss, Pam works with her clients to include creative expressions and physical activities into their treatment plans. For example: this might mean incorporating creative writing or painting and yoga or massage therapy or another form of bodywork as part of a full recovery program.
Pam specializes in adults who were sexually abused as children and adults who grew up in families with addictions. Adults who grew up in families with addiction or other dysfunction very often are codependent and have stuffed or denied their feelings for years or decades. Often some crisis in their adult life brings them to their knees, and in seeking help they discover that underlying their own compulsive behaviors is agreat deal of emotional pain and the wounded inner child. Addressing this pain and giving it time and space for expression and aided by numerous therapeutic interventions the pain is healed and self love begins. With an empathic and highly intuitive approach Pam guides her clients in their healing process.
As a Reiki Master, Pam believes that Reiki, as a healing modality can promote relaxation and is helpful in additions recovery. In 2008, after completing intensive Sand Tray training and Pam utilized this modality with individual clients in her private practice.
In continued education, Pam has also studied introduction to EMDR, Emotional Freedom Technique, Therapeutic Touch Level One, Emotional Release Therapy and other energy therapies.
