Caroline is a Certified Addiction Professional and an Internationally Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor (ICADC). Caroline is currently teaching new counselors in the addictions certification courses as an adjunct professor of psychology in the hope of helping to develop more qualified addictions counselors to meet client needs. She has also presented locally, statewide, and nationally, on related topics including how human traffickers use addiction to control victims of human trafficking.
Style and Philosophy of Counseling:
Caroline approaches therapy with faith in each person's individual strengths and ability to create change in her/his own life. We cannot change the events of the past; however, her goal is to help you to rescue yourself from these influences by learning how to apply your untapped individual strength to realize your personal goals.
She utilizes a wealth of training and experience in various therapeutic modalities to help you break your unhealthy patterns that hold you back and improve your quality of life by addressing self-defeating behaviors, old relationship patterns, negative thought patterns, and fears. And, she can simply help you to move forward when you are "stuck". Caroline has extensive experience with mental health, codependency, trauma, and addiction.
Your personal needs will indicate the type of approach she uses. She is trained in various techniques and tailor my therapeutic approach to each unique individual. Options include Psycho-dynamic, CBT, psycho-education, inner child work, Traumatic Incident Reduction ("TIR"), and Neurolinguistic Programming in Hypnosis.
Education and Experience:
Caroline has been working in the fields of addiction and co-occurring disorders (mental health and substance abuse) since 2009, with an emphasis on trauma response, PTSD and addiction.
